Yes! Hand surgeons generally come from plastic surgery or orthopaedic training backgrounds. Mr Powell happens to be one from a plastic surgical background. However, his uniquely broad training means that he is well versed in all hand surgical techniques including those which traditionally were more associated with “orthopaedic” hand surgeons.
In general ACC will cover treatment (including hand therapy and surgery) for any injury related to an accident that has been lodged with ACC. Conditions that are considered “chronic” or “degenerative” are not covered. However, the cause of a hand ailment is not often clear. As cases are not always clear Mr Powell will be able to offer an assessment and advice to support a claim where appropriate.
Yes. Most medical insurance companies will provide cover for treatment of “chronic” conditions such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Dupuytrens Contracture and Arthritis.
