Arthritis Surgery of the Fingers and Thumbs (including joint replacements)

Arthritis

Arthritis starts with inflammation around and within the joints and manifests itself as “wear and tear” of the joint. Patterns and types of arthritis are often inherited. As it worsens there is an increase in pain, stiffness and deformity of the fingers which in turn affects hand function and quality of life.

When arthritis badly affects the fingers or thumbs there are number of treatments available which include replacing the affected joint or fusing the affected joint.

Mr Powell can assess your hands and guide you with regards to which treatments might work best for you.
